Unfortunately Companies no longer see special shape balloons as viable advertising. It has become more expensive since then.

Perhaps set up a fundraiser? That could work, but I agree.

Hi Anthony Valdez, Unfortunately the balloon is very old and no longer airworthy. It’s been a long time since it last flew and unlikely it ever will again. Regards, Matt

Anthony Valdez I’ve not made it to Albuquerque yet although I hope to one day. I think Bibendum would have been over there in the late 90’s, we acquired it a few years ago now but it’s never been in a flyable condition.

Balloonatic84 Is Bibendum another Michelin Man Special Shape Balloon? I had to have sworn there was one at Fiesta here in 1998-2005. Somewhere around this time.

I wasn't the pilot for this flight but as I do the same I will provide my opinion. I have tried both with the scoop connected and without and noticed very little difference. During the summer months I think having the scoop attached can provide a little extra protection from setting any dry ground alight, or just scorching grass etc. Ultimately it probably comes down to personal preference and what you're most comfortable with. I assume you would usually do the opposite, do you have any reasons for preferring that way?

Balloonatic84 Weird how ballooning brings people together,eh? Especially since you passed directly overhead of my location at the south end of the arena! I've been to Bristol since 2003,quite a record for myself! Also you made quite the photo as the shape you guys made certainly didn't look healthy!

Sci-fi Geek 123 (deal with it! XD) yes, ballooning is a fairly small community so crossing paths occurs quite a lot. I can imagine there were some funny shapes on that take-off, was quite windy so was a case of getting up and out of the launch field as quickly as possible.

G-PNEU was one of 4 identical Michelin Man balloons and was donated to the Balloon Preservation Society after being retired (tee-hee) in 2005. They're all amateurs, and it shows - we managed to operate Bibendum with a crew of 4 . This lot look like a cast of thousands, none of whom seem to have a clue what's going on!
